Take care of business


Skillful action is critical for wellbeing. When we do something practical that needs doing, it can give us a real sense of accomplishment which is a great moment to practice appreciation.


What needs doing? A phone call you have been putting off? Paying bills? Cleaning out a cupboard? Find a task that needs doing but that you have been putting off. Do it. With mindfulness, so being fully present for it. Then once it is done, feel what arises for you. Maybe feelings of being glad it is done, pride of the result, relaxation. Just notice it


Watch out for habitual thoughts like ‘ I should have done this ages ago’ or ‘why is this such a difficult thing for me to do’ or any other self-critical thought. Let them come and go. Give yourself a little reward when the task is complete.
